How to build your beach bikini look
With August underway summer is now certainly in full swing, meaning that getting our women’s swimwear look sorted is now a number one priority. Bikini’s have long been the beach fashion item of choice but there is more to creating the perfect bikini look than just picking up any old two-piece.
Great bikinis are not just suitable for those graced with a slim frame but have been consistently redesigned in order to provide support and comfort for those of a larger build, too. Building your perfect swimwear bikini look therefore needs to begin with selecting an appropriately styled bikini that offers the comfort and support you need whilst incorporating colours and styles that are suited to your preferences.
Types of Bikini
Ultimately there are an endless selection of bikinis to choose from, all of which use different styles and designs. As we all know bikinis consist of two separate pieces: the bikini top and the bikini bottom but the variety within these categories is endless.
• Triangle Bikini Top: perhaps the most traditional of bikini tops, the triangle top provides adequate support and comfort and is designed to have straight, smooth lines.
•Bandeau Tops: designed to give a smoother tan-line across the back and shoulders, bandeau tops do not always have a neck strap and provide adequate support.
• Halter Tops: these are designed to offer extra support for larger chests and add a unique and stylish look.
• Moulded Tops: these are designed to resemble bras in some ways and therefore provide ultimate support and comfort, combining practicality with style.
There is also a range of bikini bottoms available, ranging from shorts to briefs. All designs – both in tops and bottoms – will be available in a range of colours and patterns to suit all tastes. Simple black designs are available for more conservative tastes, while frilled and heavily patterned designs are available for those with a more modern, extrovert preference.
Do More With your Women’s Swimwear
Once you have found the best bikini that is suitable for you, you need to complete the look by accessorising. A number of beach accessories are available, including sunhats, glasses, bags, jewellery and footwear. A good way to create a stylish and classic beach look is to contrast your styles. If you are wearing a simple, black or white bikini then add brightly coloured, bold accessories to stand out. Similarly, if you have a patterned or heavily designed bikini then tone down your accessories in order to make a great beach statement.
Stylish swimwear for summer fashion success
With summer underway it is time to hit the local pools and beaches, but not all of us feel comfortable in a bikini – at least not all the time. Find the rightswimwear for you now.
Swimsuits are a great way to create a sensational and stylish look whilst still feeling comfortable.
While swimsuits have previously been viewed as a little outdated, this opinion has undergone a radical transformation over recent years. Swimsuits are now more stylish than ever and offer a great women’s swimwear alternative to bikinis.
Types of Swimsuit
Swimsuits are available in a range that covers everything from the conservative to the daring; from the sporty to the stylish. For those with an athletic interest in swimming traditional designs are available which are designed to be streamlined in order to improve your performance.
Alternatively, more decorative designs are available for those who just want to cover up a little more skin. Swimsuits such as the Moontide Essential Overlay Swimsuit (pictured right in a bright ocean blue) are a great and stylish swimming essential that is bold and vibrant. The detail at the front is great for those without a flat stomach and the over-the-shoulder straps and removable padding add extra support and comfort.
Kaftans and Cover-ups
For those who perhaps want to dress more modestly this summer but can’t bear to part with their beautiful bikini, the answer is simple: cover up with a kaftan! Kaftans and other cover-ups such as beach dresses are great additions that help to cover your skin whilst still allowing you to sport your favourite bikini. Cover-ups are available in a range of styles, colours and patterns to suit all taste.
Combining a brightly patterned kaftan with a plain bikini is a great way to create a sensational summer beach look. Kaftans are typically gathered beneath the bust or under the waist to add shape to the look and the thin, flowing material are both refreshingly cool and stylish.
Women's swimwear: best Bikini styles
According to The Sun, Kelly Brooke has officially been awarded the title of ‘Best Bikini Body’ following a survey of 2000 people by Gillette Venus. Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with such bodies or praise, but does this mean we shouldn’t wear a bikini?
Of course not! There are plenty of different bikini styles available that suit all body types so just because you don’t look like Miss Brookes doesn’t mean you should avoid the beaches this summer. Instead, simply select women’s swimwear and a bikini that suits your size and shape or even select a suitable swimsuit or tankini which can be just as stylish but potentially more flattering.
For Petite Frames
For those with petite frames and small busts the best bikinis are bandeau or triangular designs. These provide plenty of coverage with simple, flat designs. Small bikini briefs with frills or tie-sides look great with slender, toned legs and add a fun and cheeky style to any beach outfit.
For Bigger Busts
For those with a larger bust a triangular topped bikini is probably not going to provide enough support. Instead, think about some different swimwear. Halter neck and moulded tops are designed to provide extra support where it is needed and are therefore ideal.
These are available in a range of colours and styles and are stylishly fashionable. They can be combined with traditional bikini briefs or shorts, which are more flattering on a larger leg.
The Soraya Amaia bikini (pictured left) has removable soft padding to provide extra support if necessary. The gold circular embellishment on the top and bottoms of the bikini adds style and glamour while the halter straps help to provide more support.
For Larger Stomachs
For those with a larger stomach, bikinis are not always the best choice. However, tankinis offer a great alternative that is still in-keeping with the bikini style. Featuring the classic two-piece design a tankini features a longer length top ideal for hiding larger stomachs and still use great design patterns and colours for modern, fun looks.
Holiday preperations: Women tend to overpack
So you are off on holiday in a couple of days. Flights booked. Hotel booked. There is one thing left to do, and something the majority of holidaymakers dread and put off (if you are in the minority, I envy your organisational skills!): the packing.
A survey carried out by a travel insurance website found that 77 per cent of women confessed to packing extras of everything just in case they can’t decide what to wear when abroad. The results found that the average woman tends to almost double her packing contents for her holiday, although they only end up wearing 50 per cent of the items they take with them in their suitcase.
Not only do women fill their suitcases with a large amount of clothes including beachwear, but also electrical items such as hair straighteners (41 percent),suncream (73 percent) and make up (53 percent). Head of travel at Gocompare.com advised that “Packing for holiday requires a certain amount of organisation, and it certainly pays to work out what you need in advance.”
Unlike some bulkier clothes such as jumpers and trousers, a plus point about swimwear is the very little amount of room it will take up in your suitcase. So if you can’t decide which bikini out of your collection to take you may as well take them all! After all, then you have yourself a different look for everyday you are on the beach/by the pool.
So if you are off on holiday soon, good luck with the packing and don’t forget to send the Tucano Beach team a postcard!
Backing Bikinis
Every summer a particular war rages on our beaches: to wear a bikini or not to wear a bikini? The fact is too many of us worry about the opinion of others as opposed to our own, which is why we are deciding to back the bikini, to show that it is more important for you to feel comfortable and happy than to please everyone else.
The great thing about bikinis is that they are incredibly versatile and can suit all tastes and preferences. Whether you prefer a traditional little black number or a bolder design, there is a range of beachwear for everyone so take a look at the little selection we have put together which highlight the great designs that are available.
Beautifully Bold
The Beach Kind Pamela Coral Bikini features a beautiful off-pink coral colour that stands out against the tops striking black lining to give an attractive appearance. This bikini is available with removable padding, allowing you to shape your bikini to meet the needs of your body shape, improving comfort and appearance.
Simply Striking
If you aren’t a huge fan of colour but still want to stand out from the crowd then something like the Soraya Amaia bikini is perfect for you. Featuring a halter-neck bikini top with removable soft cup padding this item is perfect for women with larger breasts.
The European cut bottoms offer a great option for you to build a tan and have sleek, striking lines. The colour combination of black and white creates a simple striking pattern suitable for all skin types.
Casual Cover-up
If you still find yourself a little self conscious strutting around in your bikini then why not consider getting a casual cover-up such as a beach dress or kaftan? These make great additions to your summer wardrobe and can help give you the confidence to wear your new bikini out in public.

Our personal favourite is this fun and pretty beach dress from Banana Moon Swimwear. The colourful pattern is subtle yet striking and the loose shape is flattering for all body types.
Bikinis Fashion: Catch the celeb waves
What bikinis celebrities wear has always been a topic of fierce debate with everyone prepared to offer their opinion on the latest styles. The difficulty comes in finding the celeb styles without the matching price tag. So how can you catch those celeb fashion waves?
Celebs have already been strutting their stuff this summer with the likes of Kristin Cavallari (best known for her roles in Laguna Beach and The Hills) sporting dramatic swimwear.
Kristin’s strikingly vivid one-piece, designed to replicate shards of glass, would make a stunning addition to anyone’s wardrobe. Unfortunately, most of us lack the funds to afford such luxury items, but this doesn’t mean we can’t model our own version of the celeb’s fashions.
Stunning items, such as the Caprice Sahara Monokini are perfect for those of us adventurous enough to show a little bit of skin. The radical design gives a celeb inspired look while the bold animal print draws even more attention and accentuates curves even more.

Go wild: Sahara Monokini
For those of us who want the celeb elegance without the extravagant patterns items such as theHuit Double Je Sunset Swimsuit are perfect. This item has a particularly flattering shape and offers good coverage for those who don’t want to reveal too much. The warm sunset colour (hence the name) allows you to make a celeb statement while remaining well covered. With a band under the bust this swimsuit offers extra support alongside comfort and style.
If bikinis are more your style then a range of bold designs and prints can help you look the part this summer. The by Caprice Polka Dot Bikini – sold as a separate halter neck top and tie-side brief – offers a bold and exciting take on the traditional beachwear essential. The pale pink colour is flattering to most skin types while the delicate pattern makes the item stand out from the crowd without being too ‘in-your-face’. Combining this set with matching beach dresses adds a fun and unique twist to the classic look.
Of course, bolder prints will still be available and those wishing to embrace a bit more of the celebrity flair may prefer items such as the Soraya Amaia Copacobana Tri Bikini. This bikini has a bold black and white design which looks stunning on most skin types.
